After an international design competition won by finot-conq, we were commitioned for the design of a 100 feet superyacht. For the future owner of this amazing boat, the project could be summed up in one short sentence :
The world's fastest 100' cruising yacht, for 12 passengers and 3 to 4 crew members. The performance is definitely there : more than 11 knots under code zero in 7 knots of true wind speed, and a top speed of 33 knots during a transatlantic crossing. The sail plan, optimized for the light airs of the Med, works as expected. The helm is very well balanced and reactive, the boat accelerates with the lightest puff. To attain this goal, the yacht is a real "Open" typed boat, with a chined hull, probably wider than on any other 100 footer. The lifting keel gives a deeper draft while sailing, and the boat is entirely made of carbon, with Nomex interiors, to keep the displacement at a minimum. The mast rises to 46+ metres above the waterline, and features runners to allow for a square-top mainsail. Lateral water ballasts, of more than 9 tons each side, increase the boat's power and limit the heel.
